Welcome
Jake Schneider is a father, a husband and one of the bravest pioneers in the world of brain–computer interfaces. Diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on 21 February 2022, Jake faces a progressive neuromuscular disease that slowly robs individuals of their ability to walk, speak and even breathe. Despite these challenges, he became the seventh person on Earth to receive Neuralink’s N1 brain implant. This device, placed inside the skull and connected to the motor cortex via threads finer than a hair, decodes his intention to move and turns those thoughts into digital commands.
By sharing Jake’s story we hope to shed light on the realities of ALS, demystify cutting‑edge neurotechnology and inspire support for the millions of people affected by neurodegenerative diseases. Jake’s journey is about courage, community and the fusion of human spirit with technological innovation.
